was preserved free from all stain of original sin, - is a doctrine revealed by God

December 26 Tuesday

the feast of Saint Stephen, The First Martyr

Saint Stephen was a deacon in the early Church and he had been assigned by the apostles to distribute food to the poor.  We read in the Acts of the Apostles that he worked great signs and wonders among the people and that certain Jews would engage him in argument but he always confounded them with his wisdom.  Ultimately, they made false charges against him, brought in false witnesses, and succeeded in having him stoned to death.

1) “Behold, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

2)  “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

3) “Lord, do not hold this sin against them”;

Matthew 10: 17-22 - persecution to be expected even from one’s own people

4) But beware of people, for they will hand you over to courts and scourge you in their synagogues, and you will be led before governors and kings for My sake as a witness before them and the pagans.

5) When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say. …

for it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

6) You will be hated by all because of My name, but whoever endures to the end will be saved.
